February’s selectors

Friday 2nd – Aaron Javan (Stells Selections)

Stells Selections are a UK DJ/events collective bringing artists together from the heart of Manchester, around the country & internationally too. From Electronic, Dance-infused Hip-Hop, Afrobeat, Funk beats, Disco and many more styles, we blend the best artists. and genres together to create the most unforgettable immersive nights.

Saturday 3rd – Dharma Collective

Deep-digging DJ duo, event curators and former  Melodic Distraction radio hosts on Melodic Distraction, James Sims & Kole Akeju – AKA Dharma Collective – began working together in 2015 at legendary Liverpool venue The Magnet.

They’ve held residencies at many of Liverpool’s other important music institutions, supporting the likes of Gilles Peterson, Hunee, Dan Shake, Errol & Alex Rita, Antal, Mafalda, Crazy P, Joe Goddard, & many more; along with appearances at festivals such as We Out Here and Gottwood.

Their sound spans everything from Deep Jazzy House, Broken Beat, Latin, Samba, Disco, Afrobeat, Boogie, Hip Hop and other outer-worldly rhythms, showcasing their expansive knowledge through their eclectic radio shows, DJ sets & back catalogue of remixes & edits.

Friday 9th – Zeyla

Zeyla is a shape shifting multi genre who doesn’t limit herself to one sound. She was raised on Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, Electronic, Deep House, Latin, Funk, and anything that her parents deemed fly enough to blast through the speakers. This has enabled her to have an enriched mixing style and artistry in her mixes that is distinctive and allows her to be pioneering when telling a story through her sound. Zeyla is a true selector.

Saturday 10th – WinkonWink

WinkonWink is a Filipino/British DJ who delivers unique approaches to trip-hop, outsider house & ethnotronica. He formed his particular palate whilst living in Hong Kong, London and Manchester – think chilled underground with a dash of MSG.

Saturday 10th – David Burch (Ad-Hoc Records)

Ad Hoc Records exists to celebrate music, not genres. With ever-broadening sonic horizons, ours is a home for music with soul.

Friday 16th – Gary Bratch

Side Street Studio resident, avid record collector and 1/5th of Modern, Northern and Crossover soul night Home Run Soul Club.

Saturday 17th – Living Room Dance Club

Pushing the furniture back and setting the time machine around 1970 and beyond, Ailsa McLaggan boasts a vast vinyl selection of eccentric soul, rare groove & leftfield disco. Ailsa has been serving up solid gold scoops of soul to the city and its suburbs for many moons, whilst climbing the (literal) ladder to Manchester International Festival, visiting the Desert Island Disco with Lauren Laverne and riding the Reform Radio airwaves as a resident since the station launched, all whilst (wo)manning the decks at one of Manchester s most infamous record shops.

Saturday 17th – Jack Duckham

Jack Duckham can be found slinging guitar and spinning tunes at  Lovescene and Secret Night Gang headquarters respectively. When he’s not tickling the strings he spends his time harvesting the finest funky morsels, disco tidbits and soulful stompers for his residencies at Reform Radio, Sweet Vibrations Radio and sets around the city. 

Friday 23rd – Dom Owen

Dom is a DJ and collector who’s sound comprises Deep Soul, Rare Groove, Modern Soul, Rocksteady and Lovers Rock. Expect some familiar and lesser known selections from the record box.

Saturday 24th – Jude The Obscure

Jude de Buitléar is a DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist currently based in South Manchester. A well-versed and accomplished selector, Jude has held several long-term residencies across the city (Ducie Street Warehouse, Ramona, Diecast), and is known for diverse offerings from behind the decks. His deep appreciation for all things music in combination with his perceptive insight ensures that there is never a dull moment when he’s on duty.

Saturday 24th – KRIOSO

An electronic music enthusiast for over 14 years, Luca ‘’KRIOSO’’ has cultivated a deep connection with the world of sound. With a diverse musical background that includes playing instruments like drums, bass, and keys. KRIOSO fuses a rich foundation in music theory with a passion for electronic and house music. With an unwavering commitment to self-expression, KRIOSO weaves intricate, genre-blurring sonic tapestries that transcend the boundaries of traditional house music, inviting listeners on a journey through the realms of electronic soundscapes. KRIOSO mixies are quite eclectic and he fuses different genres and vibes in his sets always with a free state of mind.
